City of Toronto opens applications for restaurants to participate in Winterlicious 2023

The City of Toronto has opened applications for restaurants to participate in the popular Winterlicious program, which is returning for 2023 after a two-year pause due to the pandemic, running from Friday, January 27 to Thursday, February 9. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

Winterlicious 2023 has been designed to make it easier for restaurants to participate and to encourage more Toronto residents to dine in and celebrate the city’s diverse culinary scene. Restaurants interested in participating in Winterlicious 2023 should review the criteria and application process before submitting their online application. Confirmation of participation in Winterlicious 2023 will be communicated directly to restaurants in late October. Based on feedback from the restaurant industry, the City made significant changes to the Summerlicious 2022 program, which were well received by local restaurants. The changes will continue for Winterlicious 2023, including waived fees for all participating restaurants, greater flexibility for restaurants to set menus and price points and a simplified online application to make it easier for restaurants to participate. Summerlicious 2022 featured more than 200 local restaurants citywide, with more than 40 per cent of these restaurants participating for the first time. Based on restaurant feedback, 99 per cent considered the program a worthwhile City effort.

Winterlicious will help drive business to local restaurants, protecting jobs and contributing to the growth and sustainability of the restaurant industry workforce. The program will help the local industry generate much-needed revenue, while also encouraging people to enjoy indoor dining again.
