Notice: Pesticide use on Giovanni Caboto Park

Dear neighbours, our office received the following notice from City staff:

A contractor plans on using pesticide in Giovanni Caboto Park, at 160 Tavistock Rd.
Program has been reviewed by the Integrated Plant Health Care (IPHC) Section as being in compliance with current provincial pesticide legislation and has received authorization at the Director level. The Area Ministry of Natural Resources Supervisor has been consulted in the interpretation and application of the Forestry Exception of the Ontario Cosmetic Pesticide Ban. This is to provide notification of site specific applications under the Program. Pesticide Use Briefing Note that describes the Program can be provided upon request. Alternative measures to pesticides have been explored and are used wherever circumstances permit.

Anticipated Date(s) of Application: Work is expected to commence after August 29th, 2022 and will take approximately 1 day to complete depending on weather conditions

Active Ingredient(s): Triclopyr
Specify Type of Competing Vegetation: Manitoba Maple (Acer negundo), European buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica)
