Toronto City Councillor James Pasternak expresses gratitude and relief at the cancellation of an antisemitic event in Montreal.

I applaud B’nai Brith Canada, CIJA and Friends of Simon Wiesenthal for their efforts to cancel the previously planned show by a French rapper Freeze Corleone. Mr. Corleone is known for virulently antisemitic views which he promotes during his shows. His performances have drawn wide spread criticism in France for being hateful, espousing Nazi ideology and using antisemitic tropes. The rapper has even compared himself to Hitler.

His show was originally scheduled for December 4 at Montreal’s Olympia Theatre, however, after Jewish groups urged the venue to cancel the show, Ticketmaster announced it has indeed been cancelled. I am happy by the action taken by Ticketmaster and continue to urge that we all do our part to confront, address and eradicate this vile form of hatred.

Sincerely,

Councillor James Pasternak
